Most frequent Notion questions and answers

According to Notion, “Notion is free to use indefinitely.” This is true at least for the Personal Plan, which is completly free for individuals. If you however upgrade to Personal Pro you can edit 30 days of version history and get priority support.

For teams and businesses prices start at $8 per month. In this plan, Notion comes with a collaborative workspace. Moreover, you can create different user roles and permissions (Admins) and you have advanced security controls.

You can get full access to all functunalities for $20 per month. (02.2022)

Hover over the header area and the add cover button should appear. (Change cover when there is already a cover image). Now you can choose between Gallery, Upload, Link and Unsplash.

The note and life operating system market is exploding. So far, Notion is the most popular app. Still, there are many promising alternative apps like:

  • Airtable
  • Coda
  • Evernote
  • OneNote
  • Obsidian
  • RoamResearch
  • Trello

Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference which app you prefer for your life or work. However, don’t make the mistake of always chasing after the newest and hottest app. My tip: the grass is always greener on the other side: do your research, test the different alternatives, but once you’ve decided on an app, try to use it for at least a year.

Shortcodes help you to save time while working on your computer. Here are some of the most useful Shortcodes you can use in Notion:

– Press `cmd/ctrl` + `n` to create a new page (desktop apps only).
– Press `cmd/ctrl` + `shift` + `n` or use `cmd/ctrl` + `click` to open a new Notion window.
– Press `cmd/ctrl` + `p` to open search or jump to a recently viewed page.
– Press `cmd/ctrl` + `[` to go back a page.
– Press `cmd/ctrl` + `]` to go forward a page.
– Press `cmd/ctrl` + `shift` + `l` to switch to Dark Mode (That’s an L not a 1).

No, at the moment Notion is just working when you are online. This is considered one of the bigger shortcomings of Notion.

Using Notion is more or less as safe as using any other cloud platform.  However, I would recommend that you are creating a backup from time to time to be on the safe side.

You can either manually click on Settings & Members in the sidebar and click on the toggle next to Dar Mode, or you can also use the following shortcode (recmmended):

CMD (Mac)/CTRL (Windows) + SHIFT + L

After installing Notion Web Clipper (available for Chrome, Firefox, or Brave), click the Notion Web Clipper button in the browser bar. Now you can save the website you are on in Notion. Important: Use “Add to” to save the web page to the correct page or database.
